What was the highlight of When the Swallow Flying B&B
Peaceful place and a kind owner that speaks good English
Very nice owner that could speak English well. Rooms had decent insulation (a rarity in Taiwan), so I didn't hear everything the neighbors were doing. Very interesting shower! Comfortable bed, decent TV channels. Location was great for those with their own transportation that want to explore the East Rift Valley.
There was a strong smell of sewage coming from the bathroom. Hopefully it was just a temporary issue.

What was the highlight of When the Swallow Flying B&B
Friendly and clean choice near the train station in Taitung
The people at this homestay are so lovely. They are what make it a great place. The room was basic but comfortable. We had everything we needed. The hosts allowed us to check out a little bit late and helped us get a taxi to the ferry. Just be aware that this is more like a homestay than a bed and breakfast! You can get breakfast, but it costs extra (it's probably great, but since we're vegan, we decided to get our own breakfast). All in all, this is a friendly place to stay, and if you want to be near the train station, this is ideal.
It was relatively far out from the center of Taitung, so we needed a taxi every time we wanted to go there (I think there is also a bus). Also, the room we got is right in the center of the building, so it was gloomy - just one small window overlooking the middle of the building (these are rooms with numbers ending in -02). I would suggest requesting a room with a number ending in -01 or -03 if you would like a brighter room with light.

Good
The house is pretty new, the lady of the house is really nice. Though one day our water heater wasn’t working, the lady lent us use the bathroom of the other room, and fixed it the day after. By the time we checked out, she also gave us a gift as a reimbursement.
Our room is the smallest room which always had a strange smell when we got in the room.
